Steps to creating a Chicken Cushion


What you need
  • Template/Pattern Piece
  • 35cm Yellow Polar Fleece
  • A sheet of Black Felt
  • A sheet of Orange Felt
  • A piece of Pink Polar Fleece or Pink Felt
  • Polyester Stuffing/Filling
  • Pins
  • Black, White and Pink Threads
  • A needle
  • A pair of fabric scissors and/or a sharp pair of scissors
  • Glue or Sticky Tape
  • Sewing machine (alternative: you can hand stitch)
Steps
  1. Glue or sticky tape template pages together
  2. Cut out template
  3. Pin template to the fabric with right sides together: face, wings, feet, cheeks and eyes
  4. Cut out fabric
  5. Pin template to fabric: tail
  6. Cut out fabric
  7. Stitch the beak right side together but leave a small gap for turning inside out
  8. Turn beak inside out
  9. Stuff the beak a little
  10. Hand stitch opening
  11. Stitch the eyes, cheeks and beak to the right side of face
  12. Sew the wings right sides together and leave an opening (pin to make sewing easier)
  13. Clip the edges (not too close to the stitching)
  14. Turn the wings inside out
  15. Sew the feet right sides together and leave an opening (pin to make sewing easier)
  16. Clip the edges (not too close to the stitching)
  17. Turn the feet inside out
  18. Fold wings and pin onto face
  19. Pin feet onto face
  20. Pin feathers onto face
  21. Stitch feathers, wings and feet onto face
  22. Hand sew a running stitch around the edge of the tail piece
  23. Gently tug running stitch thread to gather edge of the circle
  24. Stuff the tail
  25. Hand stitch the tail onto the right side of back face
  26. Pin faces right sides together
  27. Sew face and leave a small opening at the bottom (1cm seam allowance)
  28. Trim and clip the edges of the face (not too close to the stitching)
  29. Turn face inside out
  30. Stuff the face
  31. Hand stitch the small opening at the bottom and you're done
Congratulations! You’ve created your own chicken cushion!
